Credit applications: how they work and where they go

For dealership staff, and for F&I and finance vendors working with an Overfuel dealer.

The two destinations

Every credit application submitted on your Overfuel site goes to up to two places, and they are independent of each other:

  1. A lead — always. The application is stored in Overfuel under Form Entries and delivered to your CRM as an ADF lead. This happens whether or not the finance push below is working, so an application is never lost while a finance integration is being sorted out.
  2. A push to your F&I or loan origination system — if provisioned. Overfuel sends the application to 700Credit, which forwards it to your destinations — DealerTrack, CUDL and similar. RouteOne is also supported. Note that DealerTrack is reached through 700Credit rather than by a separate direct integration.

Soft pull and hard pull are two different products

This catches out almost every new store, so it is worth being precise about:

  • Soft pull / pre-qualification lets a shopper check what they qualify for without affecting their credit. It has its own 700Credit credentials.
  • Hard pull / the full credit application is the real application. It has separate credentials and separate routing configuration.

They are set up on separate timelines. 700Credit's own guidance is roughly two weeks from signed documents to a fully set up account with all credit codes, and the soft-pull credentials usually arrive several days before the hard-pull ones. So "700Credit says our credentials are ready" may well mean only the soft pull is ready.

If you are timing a site launch or a domain cutover around this, tell us which of the two you are waiting on. Launching with pre-qualification live while the full application is still being provisioned is a normal and often better option than holding the launch.

Where the application lives on your site

The credit application is usually a dedicated page — commonly /car-loan, /credit-application or /apply-online — and is also reachable from a finance button on vehicle pages. If you think your application has disappeared, check the vehicle-page button before anything else; on many sites that button opens the application directly and there is no standalone page.

Each dealer account has one credit application form. Changing a field label changes it everywhere the application appears, for every shopper.

"An application isn't reaching DealerTrack / RouteOne"

Work it in this order:

  1. Confirm the application is in Form Entries and in your CRM. If it is, the data is safe and this is a delivery problem, not a lost application.
  2. Open a ticket with the applicant's name and the date and time. We verify the routing configuration on our side first.
  3. If our configuration is correct, we take it to 700Credit with you. The usual causes at that stage are destination mapping on the 700Credit side, or a single application being rejected for field formatting — long written-out address lines, unusual characters, and placeholder phone numbers such as 999-999-9999 are all known causes of a silent rejection.

If applications were arriving and then stopped, say so explicitly and give us the approximate date. That pattern points somewhere quite different from one that never worked, and it is worth checking whether anything changed on the 700Credit or DealerTrack side in that window.

A note on sensitive data

Full credit applications contain Social Security numbers, dates of birth and employment details. Access is restricted accordingly. When you contact us, identify the application by applicant name plus date and time — please do not email us SSNs, dates of birth or full application contents, and we will not ask for them.

What to send Overfuel Support

  • Applicant name and the date and time they applied
  • Which rooftop
  • Whether the application appears in Form Entries and in your CRM
  • Which F&I system it should have reached (DealerTrack, RouteOne, CUDL, other)
  • Whether this is a new setup or something that previously worked
