Building inventory landing pages

For content and SEO editors working in the Overfuel dealer admin.

An inventory landing page is a URL that shows a filtered set of your vehicles with your own headline, copy and meta tags on it — Used Commercial Vehicles for Sale in Indianapolis, Convertibles Under $20,000, and so on.

There are two different tools in the admin that build one, and they do different jobs. Almost every problem with these pages comes from using the wrong one. This article covers how to tell them apart.

The two mechanisms

A — SRP Content blockB — Page + Inventory block
WhereReusable Content → Content: Search Results (SRP)Pages → Add Page
Creates a URL?No — the URL already existsYes — any slug you type
What it addsYour H1, SEO copy and meta tags onto an existing inventory URLA full page with a filtered vehicle grid embedded in it
What sets the filterThe URL itself — built into the platformThe block's filter fields
Use whenA built-in URL already covers what you wantNo built-in URL covers what you want

The ten-second test — run this before building anything

Open the URL you want in a browser, on your live site:

What you seeWhat it meansWhat to do
A working inventory page with vehicles on itReserved — it's a built-in URLMechanism A
A working inventory page with 0 vehiclesReserved, but you have no matching stock right nowMechanism A — the page fills in when stock arrives
404The slug is freeMechanism B

That's the whole test, and it's authoritative because it's the live site.

⚠️ Never create a Page at a slug that is already a built-in inventory URL. Built-in inventory URLs resolve before dealer-authored pages, so a Page you create at /suvs or /vans is simply unreachable — no error, no warning. You will see it in the admin and never on the site. This is the most expensive mistake available here, and the ten-second test prevents all of it.

Mechanism A — SRP Content block

Use when the URL already exists. It bolts your editorial content and meta tags onto a page the platform already serves.

It does add an H1, body copy and internal links; set the meta title and description; and control whether search engines index the page. It does not create a URL, and it does not change which vehicles appear — the URL decides that.

  1. Go to Reusable ContentContent: Search Results (SRP).
  2. Click + Add New SRP Content, or Edit an existing row.
  3. Fill in the fields:
    • Content nickname (required) — an internal label so you can find the block again. Not shown to shoppers.
    • SRP Slug to map content to (required) — the exact URL path with a leading slash, e.g. /commercial-trucks. This is the field that binds the block to the page.
    • Main header (H1) — replaces the default heading. See the Vehicles Count tip below.
    • Meta Title and Meta Description — the description is capped at 160 characters.
    • Visibility — whether search engines may index the page. Set this explicitly rather than leaving it unset, so it can't drift.
    • Content Placement — where your copy sits relative to the grid. Bottom of Page keeps vehicles above the copy.
    • Content — your rich-text article.
  4. Save, then load the public URL and confirm your copy appears.

? The H1 field takes a live variable: Vehicles Count. It's listed under Available Variables beneath the H1 box. Drop it in and your heading reads "57 Commercial Vehicles for Sale in Indianapolis", updating itself as stock turns — you never edit it again. Worth adding to every SRP block you own.

? Managing two sites? Every row has a Copy to Account(s) button. Build a block once and copy it rather than retyping. Re-run the ten-second test after copying — a slug with stock on one site may have none on the other.

⚠️ The slug must match the URL exactly as the platform routes it. If a built-in URL has aliases, your block binds only to the one slug you typed; the other aliases won't show your copy. Pick the one you'll promote and link to it consistently.

Mechanism B — Page + Inventory block

Use when no built-in URL covers what you want. This creates a real page at a slug you choose, with a filtered grid of vehicles in it.

  1. Go to PagesAdd Page and type your Page Title. Delete the "Tips for composing a new page" placeholder once you start building.
  2. Click Page Settings (top right) and set Status (Draft while you work), Visibility (allow indexing), Page Slug, Meta Title and Meta Description. Slug and SEO live behind this button, not on the main form.
  3. Build the page body from the Elements palette — heading, text, button, divider, image, video.
  4. Add an Inventory block where you want the grid.
  5. Select the block, open Inventory Settings, and set the filters: Location, Make, Model, Condition, Mileage, Min/Max price, Min/Max year, Minimum photos, Body style, Fuel type and Features. You can also override the block's button text and link.
  6. Save, set Status to Published, then load the public URL and confirm the grid shows what you expect.

0 and "All" mean "no limit," not "zero." Every numeric filter treats 0 as unset, and every dropdown defaults to unrestricted. You don't need to touch fields you don't care about.

? Every dropdown shows the count before you commitCoupe (53), Convertible (24), Diesel (27). Use it to sanity-check that a page is worth building before you write the copy.

⚠️ Filters take one value at a time. Each dropdown selects a single option — no checkboxes, no multi-select. One Inventory block gives you one body style, one fuel type, one model. To cover two body styles on a page, use two Inventory blocks stacked. This is the most important limitation to know before you plan a page.

Before you publish

  • ☐ I ran the ten-second test on my slug
  • ☐ Reserved → I used Mechanism A, and the block's slug matches the URL exactly
  • ☐ Free (404) → I used Mechanism B, and the Inventory block's filters are set
  • ☐ I loaded the public URL and the vehicles shown are the ones my copy promises
  • ☐ The count isn't zero (if it is, it's usually a stock or feed gap — ask Support)
  • ☐ Meta title and meta description are set
  • ☐ Visibility explicitly allows indexing
  • ☐ Status is Published
  • ☐ Every URL in copy, meta or a campaign uses your site's canonical host

When to ask Overfuel Support

Email support@overfuel.com if:

  • A built-in URL you expected doesn't exist, and you'd like one added.
  • A reserved URL loads with 0 vehicles even though you have matching stock — that usually points at your inventory feed rather than the page.
  • You need a filter the dropdowns can't express, such as two values in one grid.

Include the exact URL, what you expected to see, and what you saw instead.
