Specials, offers and promos: which is which

For dealership staff and marketing managers.

"Can you put our specials up?" covers at least three different systems on an Overfuel site, one of which you can run yourself. Knowing which one you want saves a round trip.

What you wantWhere it livesSelf-serve?

Service offers (coupons)

Log in to dealers.overfuel.com and go to Reusable ContentService Offers. You can group them into categories, then add offers with a title, subtitle, description, category, photo and a link.

? Use plain images with no text on them. The title and subtitle you type are rendered as an overlay on the image. If your artwork already contains the wording, you'll get it twice, on top of itself. This is the most common complaint about service offers, and it's entirely avoidable.

Homepage promos

Promos are the offer banners that appear on your homepage. We set these up — send us:

  • A promo title and the alt text for the image
  • The link destination — where the banner should click through to
  • The desktop image, which is the banner itself
  • A mobile version — optional, but send one if you have it. Without it the desktop image is used on phones, and wide artwork with small text rarely survives that.
  • Which category it belongs to, and any start and expiry dates

⚠️ "My promo isn't showing on the homepage." Homepage promos are placed by category, and one saved without a category is live but invisible. If an offer you approved isn't appearing, mention this when you write in — it is the most common cause, and it is a quick fix on our side.

Specials landing pages

A dedicated page for lease offers or monthly incentives is usually a built page rather than a managed list, and on many sites it's been custom-designed. That means updating it is often a support request rather than something you edit.

If you're refreshing these monthly, tell us — it's worth restructuring the page so that you can swap the offers yourself each month without coming back to us. Several dealers have made that switch and it's the difference between a monthly ticket and a five-minute job in-house.

Linking an offer to actual vehicles

An offer banner is more useful pointing at inventory than at a static page. Your site already serves filtered inventory URLs, so a "0% APR on new trucks" banner can link straight to your new trucks. Load the URL in a browser first to confirm it returns what you expect — and see the article on inventory landing pages if you want SEO copy on that page too.

Expiry

Offers with dates on them are the ones most often left up too long, which is both a bad look and a compliance risk if the terms have lapsed. Send expiry dates with the offer so it can come down on schedule rather than when somebody notices.

What to send Overfuel Support

  • Which of the three things above you mean
  • The artwork (desktop and mobile), or the offer details if you need it designed
  • The exact wording, including any disclaimer or fine print that must appear
  • The link destination
  • Start and expiry dates
  • Which rooftop(s)
