Editing your site menus and navigation

For dealership staff with admin access to the dealer portal.

Your site's navigation — the links across the top, and the ones in the footer — is something you can manage yourself. You don't need to raise a ticket to add a link, rename one, or take one down.

Editing your menus

  1. Log in to dealers.overfuel.com.
  2. Click Menus in the left-hand navigation.
  3. Add, edit, remove or reorder items, then save.

⏱️ Allow up to two minutes. Menu changes are cached, so a new item can take a couple of minutes to appear on the live site. Most "it didn't work" reports are someone refreshing within ten seconds. Wait two minutes, then hard-refresh before concluding anything is wrong.

Linking to the right place

A menu item can point at anything:

  • A page you've built — use its slug, for example /about-us.
  • A filtered set of vehicles. Your site already serves inventory URLs like /trucks or /suvs, so "Shop Trucks" in the menu is just a link. Load the URL in a browser first to confirm it returns the vehicles you expect.
  • An external site — a finance application, a manufacturer page, an event registration.

? Check the link before you publish it. The most common menu problem isn't the menu — it's a link pointing at a page that doesn't exist, or an inventory URL with no matching stock. Paste the URL into a browser first. A menu item leading to an empty results page is worse than no menu item.

A few things worth knowing

  • Long menus don't survive phones. Every item you add competes for the same space. If you're adding a link, it's worth asking which one it replaces.
  • Multiple rooftops have their own menus. Changing one store's navigation doesn't change its siblings — you'll need to repeat it, or ask us to apply the same change across the group.
  • Deleting a menu item doesn't delete the page. The page stays live and reachable by its URL; it's just no longer linked. If you want the page gone, that's a separate step.
  • Removing a page that a menu links to leaves a dead link behind. Take the menu item down too, and see the article on redirects if the page had traffic.

When to ask us instead

Email support@overfuel.com if:

  • You want the same change applied across every rooftop in a group at once.
  • You want to change the structure rather than the contents — dropdowns, a different arrangement, or how the navigation behaves on mobile.
  • You want a menu item styled differently from the others, such as a highlighted button.
  • You've made a change, waited a few minutes, hard-refreshed, and it still isn't showing.

Include which rooftop, the exact label you want, and the destination URL.
